Fathul-Qadir discusses the interpretation of the Qur'an according to comprehension of the Prophet, the Companions, the Salaf and later generations. It contains a large amount of knowledge related to the interpretation of the meaning of each word and verse in the Qur'an, legal aspects and rules of fiqh, which are extracted from various books of commentaries that have been there before, such as Tabari interpretation, tafsir al-Qurtubi, Tafsir Ibn Kathir, as-Suyuti and others.
 

Imam Ash Shawkani, in his book is doing tarjih (to favor one opinion) among several interpretations which using the strengths of that opinion while highlighting conflicts among other opinions. He also explained the meaning of the Arabic language, particularly with regard to I'rab and balaghah.

Fathul Qadir  is the essence of the various sources, and repository for the prosecution of science, as well as a reference for scholars until now.
